The 8th National Youth Ecological Worker Symposium held in Dameisha, Shenzhen
The 8th National Symposium of Youth Ecologists was successfully held at the Dameisha Airland Hotel in Shenzhen from November 18th to 20th. Vice-president Zenghui and Professor Wu Jiansheng of PKUSZ attended the symposium.

The symposium was co-organized by Youth Working Committee of the Chinese Society of Ecology and School of Urban Planning and Design of Shenzhen Graduate School of Peking University. Prof. Zheng Hua, scientist from the Research Centre for Eco-Environmental Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Prof. Wu Jiansheng of SUPD were the chairman of the committee. The symposium aimed to promote the academic exchange and cooperation among the young ecologists in China, grasp the frontiers of international ecology and improve the ability of serving the construction of ecological civilization in China. Vice-president Zenghui of PKUSZ was invited to give a speech at the opening ceremony.

Six Outstanding Young Award winners in ecology were invited to make special presentations at this conference, who were Liu Lingli, researcher at the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Zhao Huabin at Wuhan University, Professor Yuan Wenping at Nanjing Normal University, Professor Yuan Zengwei at Nanjing University, Pengjian, associate professor at Peking University and Zhou Weiqi, researcher at Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Meanwhile, Duan Jing, the vice editor of editorial department of Journal of Ecology was also invited to report on the topic of Academic Misconduct and Publishing Standards of COPE.

This event included a total of four parallel sessions and eight topics: Ecosystem Services and Ecological Compensation, Urban Ecology and Sustainable Development, Valley Ecology and Eco-hydrology and Landscape Change and Management, Soil Ecology and Remediation, Ecological Remote Sensing Methods and Applications, Environmental Change and Ecological Response and Wetland Ecology and Management. Hu Tian, Zhang Xi, Jia Jinglei, Wu Wenhuan from SUPD make presentations titled Co-benefits analysis between soil retention and water yield in Pearl River Delta, Ecological security assessment of wetland in rapidly urbanized areas: A case study in Shenzhen, China, The plastic element area problem in the study of spatial variation of urban land surface temperature, Soil conservation service zoning in Inner Mongolia autonomous region based on PSR Model, respectively.

The conference have set up academic wall newspaper show. Yang Yang, Luo Fanghan and Liu Qinghua from SUPD had made speeches, the titles of which are ”The ecological security patterns in Yunnan”, ”Landscape ecological risk assessment based on adaptive cycle in Beijing”, and ”Evaluation on comprehensive exploitation suitability of low-slope hilly land based on GRNN model and neighborhood calculation”.

The symposium selected 8 research and innovation awards of postgraduate students of Ecological Society of China, 16 outstanding academic report rewards, and 8 outstanding academic wall newspaper awards. Hu Tian, Zhang Xi and Jia Jinglei from SUPD won the outstanding academic report reward and Luo Fanghan won the outstanding academic wall newspaper award.

Finally, this session of conference has achieved complete success, which not only promoted the academic exchange between Chinese youth ecological scholars, but also improved external influence of SUPD.
